Taking a Look at the 2020 Chevy Silverado

Since the dawn of the automotive age, Chevrolet has manufactured terrific car after terrific car. With a proven track record over many decades, it comes as no surprise to see Chevy’s latest iteration — the 2020 Silverado — having a ton of buzz. Simply put, it’s one beautiful vehicle.

There are three cars within the Silverado grouping: The regular cab ($34,100), the double cab ($36,500), and the crew cab ($38,300). Trim levels include High Country, LT Trail Boss, Work Truck, LT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LTZ, and RST. From a fuel economy standpoint, the Silverado has very respectable metrics. It offers 16 miles-per-gallon in city driving, and 22 miles-per-gallon on the highway.

Last year’s complete overhaul of the vehicle is seen in this year’s version as well. Chevrolet offers consumers a number of engines from which to choose from. They include the 2.7-Liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the 5.3-Liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management, and the 6.2-Liter V8.

Duly, there’s also a diesel engine made available in the form of a 3.0-Liter turbodiesel inline-six. It includes 277 HP and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Even more, this engine is said to get 23 miles-per-gallon in city driving, and 33 miles-per-gallon on the highway. When compared to competitors in the class, the Silverado is offering excellent fuel economy.

The interior cabin of the Silverado might not possess the bells and whistles of its competitors. However, it’s comfortable in its own right. Every iteration of the vehicle comes with a standard 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker sound system and Android Auto. More expensive trims will include camera systems for parking and multiple USB ports.

From a safety standpoint, the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave a ‘GOOD’ score for all of its crash categories. Duly, traits such as lane-keep assist, collision warning, blind-spot/rear cross-traffic warning, and low-speed automatic emergency braking are found within various Silverado models.
